La Mona Restaurant

I've eaten at La Mona numerous times. So many times I've lost count. But every time I go there I always discover something new, and it's always good.

Juanillo is one of the most beautiful and most photographed beaches in all of Cap Cana. It's paradise. The only way to make this place any better would be to have the opportunity to enjoy some good food while enjoying your day at the beach. Well, now that opportunity is here. Welcome to La Mona …

So why do I keep going back? The combination of food, service, and ambiance is unbeatable!

First and foremost is the location. Literally less than 10 meters from the sea on what might arguably be one the best beaches in Punta Cana, Playa Juanillo.

Whether you choose to dine in the afternoon, evening or night, the location stays the same, and it's pretty damn hard to beat! Personally, I like getting there around 4pm. It's not too crowded, and you get the best Sun of the day. Not to hot, but still breathtakingly beautiful. Wait a couple more hours and it sunset, my favorite time of day. Later into the evening, the stars will come out lighting up the sky like millions of little firefly's.

Let's go back to 4pm for a minute and give you a taste of how to really enjoy life.

Besides normal tables, La Mona also boasts large lounge chairs and sofas directly on the beach. Grab one of those and a friendly server will be offering you amazing appetizers and drinks in no time. Sorry, there's nothing better than enjoying like in the Caribbean, on the beach, eating calamari and drinking a Margarita, or two, or three, or more...

By the time you start to get a pretty good buzz going, you move from your beach sofa to a more traditional table on the deck at La Mona. No worries, your still outside, and by this time we have either live music or a DJ for the rest of the evening. The last time I was there I listened to music from Jason Mraz, Amy Winehouse, Juan Luis Guerra and more... Just to give you and idea of the vibe in this place.

When I'm not traveling, you can find me hanging out of the beach here in the Dominican Republic. I try not to take life too seriously if I can avoid it. Oh yeah, and I’m the guy that sort of keeps this site from falling apart.
